Psychology – Wes Warren

Wes has taught AP psychology for several years. He has restructured AP programming in his school and district to create pre-AP programming in psychology and other disciplines. Wes has been instrumental in psychology curriculum writing, textbook selection, and exam development. As an international college board certified consultant and AP Exam reader since 2005, Wes has had the pleasure of working with teachers from 5 continents in single session and weeklong institutes. As a founding chair of international youth at risk associations and an educational psychologist, Wes has spoken on topics pertaining to adolescent mental health and youth trauma at conferences both domestically and internationally. Wes’ focus is to motivate using engaging and topically relevant activities and to provide material teachers can use immediately which focus on student success.

With the redesign of the AP Psychology curriculum and new AP Test Questions, it is important for AP Psychology teachers to attend an APSI to receive the up-dates to the curriculum and test.  Wes attended the Consultant trainings this year and he is well prepared to provide accurate and in-depth instruction.

The workshop goals are to guide participants, whether experienced or new to psychology, in creating a fun and exciting course and provide a collection of ideas and activities you can use to “hit the ground running” on your first day of class and for everyone to really enjoy this learning opportunity.

Why attend an in-person APSI?  Meaningful discussions and collaborations!  AP Psychology Teachers work collaboratively to develop a lesson on Learning and Cognition.  The teachers incorporate the topics of negative punishment, formal operational stage of cognitive development, actor-observer bias and self-efficacy in order to help students do well on an AP Psychology Test Question.
