African American Studies – Shauna Aningo

Shauna Aningo is a high school social studies educator at Clayton High School in Clayton, Missouri, where she inspires students through innovative teaching and a commitment to academic excellence. She has played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the AP African American Studies pilot program.

Shauna brings a wealth of academic expertise to her work, holding a BA in Psychology, an MS.Ed. in Educational Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Secondary Social Studies from Concordia University Portland. Her teaching career spans diverse institutions, including Normandy High School, St. Louis Community College at the Meramec campus, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

In addition to her classroom achievements, Shauna is deeply involved in educational leadership and resource development. She has contributed to AP Daily videos for AP African American Studies, collaborated with the Gilder Lehrman Institute to develop educational resources, and currently serves as a coach for the OER Project, supporting innovative learning initiatives nationwide.

As a mother of seven, Shauna brings passion and perspective to everything she does. She is an avid enthusiast of African American history, reading, dancing, and lifelong learning, enriching both her personal and professional life with creativity and dedication.
